At a glance

The Medical City’s planned technology and research park: an innovation hub for technology and AI, an R&D lab for herbal and health science, a data centre with a 2 MW target and a power plant targeting up to 4 MW of backup power.

On the campus
The Utility District, where the master plan places the city’s power plant and data centre; the park’s area is being confirmed.
Why here
The hospital, the plants and the town all need computing, payments and resilient power; built once in one park, they serve every project and give founders and researchers real places to test.
Components
Innovation Hub · R&D Lab · Data centre · Power plant
Partners
Technology, energy, fibre and payments partners, universities and investors: co-invest in the park’s components, bring fibre, power, payments or research capability, and back the ventures it incubates.

Inside the park / 04

Four components, one park.

01

Innovation Hub

An incubator where founders, engineers and researchers build technology and AI ventures, then pilot them on the Medical City’s own hospital, plants and infrastructure.

02

R&D Lab

Research into medicinal plants and health science, from botanical identification and extraction to analysis and formulation, towards products Thompson & Grace Pharmaceuticals can develop and register.

03

Data centre

A data centre with a 2 MW target to power the city digitally: its hospital and plant systems, its payments, and up to 2 million connected devices planned through a fibre-optic partnership.

04

Power plant

A power plant targeting up to 4 MW of backup power, so the data centre, the hub and the lab keep running when the supply drops.

City systems

Hospital information systems and health records, plant quality and manufacturing systems, buildings and security.

Payments

A payments platform for the people and businesses of the Medical City.

Connected devices

A target of up to 2 million connected devices, from sensors and meters to phones, over a fibre-optic network built with a partner.

AI and research computing

Computing power for the Innovation Hub’s AI work and the R&D Lab’s research data.

Oil & gas engineering technology

Tools for field operations, asset monitoring, inspection and maintenance.

Health technology

Digital and device solutions, tested with the Cottage Hospital.

Artificial intelligence

Applied AI for industry and health, developed with the hospital and the plants.

Machining & fabrication

Precision parts and prototypes for the other three areas.

How the hub works / 04

Ideate. Incubate. Pilot. Scale.

01

Ideate

Founders and partners shape ideas around real problems from industry and the campus.

02

Incubate

Teams get workspace, workshops, mentoring and access to partners.

03

Pilot

Solutions are tested inside the hospital, the plants and the city’s infrastructure.

04

Scale

Proven ventures take their products to market with the hub’s partners.
