A city built on modern intelligence, pharmaceutical technology and wellness. Thompson & Grace Medical City Ltd. is developing a self-contained community on a 131-hectare site in Akwa Ibom, anchored by a healthcare system: one campus where medicine is made, care is delivered and new technology is built.

Each project is a business in its own right, and each is stronger beside the others. The land is secured and the design and architecture phase is complete; plan drawings are concepts.

01Wellness and care

T&G Cottage Hospital

The first phase of the Medical City’s healthcare system: a cottage hospital on 61,650 m² with outpatient, maternity and paediatric, diagnostic, emergency and surgical, intensive, in-patient and private care, its wards arranged around a healing garden.

Stage: Design complete
On the campus: The anchor of the Medical District, the first tenant on the campus.

02Pharmaceutical technology

Intravenous Fluid Manufacturing

A plant for intravenous fluids, the saline, dextrose and electrolyte solutions every hospital uses daily, built as prefabricated modules. It builds on more than three decades of Thompson & Grace Pharmaceuticals in pharmaceutical products and distribution.

Stage: In development
On the campus: Proposed for the Utility District, beside the planned power plant and waste treatment facility.

03Modern intelligence

Thompson & Grace Innovation Park

The Medical City’s planned technology and research park: an innovation hub for technology and AI, an R&D lab for herbal and health science, a data centre with a 2 MW target and a power plant targeting up to 4 MW of backup power.

On the campus: The Utility District, where the master plan places the city’s power plant and data centre; the park’s area is being confirmed.

Pharmaceutical-Grade Cassava Processing

A planned facility to turn locally grown cassava into pharmaceutical-grade starch and related ingredients, linking the region’s farmers to medicine-making on the campus.

The master plan / 04 districts

Four districts. One coherent city.

Medical

The hospital at the north-west entrance, with a medical school and research institute, a hotel and conference centre, student housing and sports fields.

Mixed use

A circular town centre of shops, offices and apartments, with a visitor centre, exhibition centre and artisan village.

Residential

Apartments, duplexes and low-density homes for staff and families, with a school, community centre and places of worship.

Utility

The Thompson & Grace Innovation Park, home to the city’s power plant and data centre, beside waste treatment and a separate service entrance.

Leadership

Named for Thompson and Grace.

The Medical City carries the names of Thompson and Grace, and is led by its Pioneer Managing Director, Dr. Isaac Amos.

The shared platform

Build the hard infrastructure once.

The Cottage Hospital and the IV fluid and cassava plants all need reliable power, clean water, waste treatment and fast connectivity. The Innovation Park builds the city’s data centre and backup power once, so that infrastructure serves every project and is paid for by several businesses rather than one.
